As South Florida’s only adult and pediatric Level I Verified Burn Center, we treat more than 600 patients a year from throughout Florida and the Caribbean. On March 5, 2022, Kella Simon was folding laundry in her bedroom, which was located in a guesthouse right outside of her West Palm Beach home, when she began to smell smoke coming from the main house.

South Florida Father Saved at the Miami Burn Center after Suffering Life-Threatening Burns

John Pendleton suffered life-threatening injuries at work after more than 4,000 volts of electricity entered through the top of his head and exited out of the back of his neck. His medical team at the Miami Burn Center determined he had suffered a traumatic brain injury, a skull fracture, brain bleed, and third and fourth degree burns.

Firefighter Tennyson “Mackie” McFarlane was responding to a routine house fire in Kingston, Jamaica when a propane tank exploded inside the structure. McFarlane suffered severe burns to his hands and face.
